Everyone else at home took a moment to speak with you all, so I guess I will too. My name is Karl and I don’t see what the big deal is with obesity and activity and measured feedings. Food goes in the bowl, I go to the bowl, and the food goes in my belly. End of story. But then my humans brought home another younger sibling for me. Suddenly there is new food in the house, but I am not allowed to eat it! It smells so good and it takes me back to a simpler time, a time when I was the top cat of my house and could do what I wanted when I wanted to do it. The food flowed freely, the toys were all mine, and I was out of my mind on catnip… Ah, the good old days. But as I’ve gotten older and our family has grown, things have changed. My humans took me to see my friends at LVH to meet the new ball of fluff they were bringing home. Dr. Johnstone and Dr. Collins developed a dietary plan for me and my siblings. I get a food made especially for me, my older brother gets one just for him, and the little interloper gets her own dish as well. Even the accursed dog gets his own meal (not that anyone else would want it after it is covered in his drool)! Worse still, my humans now measure my food so I cannot gorge myself at my leisure! The humans feed us all separately and make sure we do not eat each other’s food. At first I didn’t like this one bit, but now it’s growing on me. I like having quiet time to eat my meals and I especially like having space, food, and bowls that belong just to me. Now if I can just convince these other felines to quit stealing my bag of catnip…
