Amy Johnstone

Hello, I’m Dr. Amy Johnstone. I was born and raised in the Cincinnati area & received my BS in Biology in town at Xavier University. I then received my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Ohio State University in 1991. Becoming a veterinarian was a childhood dream of mine come true. My husband Kevin and I enjoy living in the Cincinnati area with all it has to offer, and are part of a large closely knit family. Hobbies include camping, gardening and other outdoor activities. We share our house with Dunkel, a black lab and 2 kitties, Willie and Waylon.

Kristen DuVal

Hello I’m Dr. Kristen DuVal. I was born and raised in Greater Cincinnati and received my BS in Biology and Psychology from Xavier University. After completing my undergraduate work I studied at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts and completed my veterinary clinical year at The Ohio State University. I have always loved animals and dreamed of being a veterinarian since I was a child. My husband and I love this area of the country as there is something different to do every week. We have two coconut retrievers from St. Kitts, two cats and a horse to round out our family. Hobbies in my spare time include reading, biking along the many trails, and traveling.

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.

Amanda Archer

Hey everyone! My name is Amanda, and I work as an RVT here at Liberty. Born and raised in small town Northwest Ohio, I made my way down to the ‘Nati on a track scholarship to UC where I earned my degree in Biology in 2016. After taking several classes at the Cincinnati Zoo, I knew I wanted my passion for animals to turn into a career. I graduated from UCBA with a degree in Veterinary Technology in the spring of 2018 and was happily hired here at Liberty after graduation. Advocating for our furry friends and giving them the best medical care makes each day unique and rewarding. I married my high school sweetheart in 2017, and we have 3 crazy fur babies at home. Chance is a deaf husky mix who loves pestering our two opinionated cats, Cricket and Charlotte. I look forward to working with you and caring for your pets!

Hi there, my name is Cristy. I have been working at Liberty Veterinary Hospital since early 2014. I am an RVT, who graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2016. LVH has been the place that I have been taking my own dogs to ever since I was a little lady. So once I started working here, let’s just say I was very happy to finally see what was behind the swinging doors! I worked as a kennel assistant when I first started, and then became a lab assistant during school. I have two dogs currently, Oliver and Kaylie. Oliver is a big happy boy who loves every living thing he meets. Kaylie, on the other hand, is much more shy (Hey, like me!). I enjoy being outside, I love to go on walks or hiking, & I am also a huge sucker for flowers. On the flip side, I also enjoy the indoor life, video games, Netflix, and being a dork surfing the web.I look forward to meeting you and your animals here at LVH!”

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. At a young age I found that I had an intense passion for animals. I showed horses in 4-H which ignited the fire to push me to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. I attended The University of Cincinnati: Blue Ash where I met the love of my life, Patrick. I graduated in 2017 and went on to obtain my license as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Straight out of school I took a position at a 24 hour emergency clinic for 2.5 years where I gained irreplaceable knowledge and skills which I hope to apply here at LVH. I have 3 fur babies at home: Chewie (Tibetan Terrier), Lando(Lab/Pit Mix) and Kitty(DSH). All 3 are rescues from the SPCA. In our free time my husband and I love to spend time with our fur babies, shooting, swimming and playing video games.

When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal. I see a living being. I see a friend. I feel a soul.

Veterinary Assistants

Hey there, my name is Erica. I started working at LVH in July of 2016. Ever since I was young I had always wanted to work with animals. Now I work as a lab assistant, alongside techs and doctors to help patients feel better.

I have one dog of my own, a small Pekinese mix named Balto, who is a bundle of personality. In my free time when I’m outside I enjoy hiking, swimming and recently I’m getting back into golfing. On the other hand I don’t mind hanging out inside playing video games, and sitting down to watch movies.

Hello everyone! My name is Spencer, and I have been working at Liberty Veterinary Hospital starting in January of 2018. I am a Lab Assistant, working alongside the doctors and technicians. Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I have always lived with three in my home. Currently, I have two dogs and a cat. I have a Cairn Terrier, an Australian Sheppard, and a Tabby cat. I really enjoy the satisfaction of returning a happy, healthy pet to its owner!

Hi! I’m Velia Brock, a lab assistant at Liberty Veterinary Hospital. I have loved animals all my life, and was known as “the crazy cat lady” at Monroe Local Schools. I have two cats, Fire, who is super fluffy, and Zeke, still a kitten at heart. I also have two dogs, a German Shepard named Bella, and a long haired Dachshund, Sofia. I’m so excited to be working here, considering I get to pet cute animals and get paid at the same time! I also feel as though I would be making my younger self proud doing something I love: helping animals.

An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.

Client Care

Hello! I’m Browyn and I joined LVH in the spring of 2016. I started out in the kennel and then made my way up to reception. I love being able to see all the adorable pets come in and their different personalities. I love my job, building relationships with both the owners and the pets. I never get tired of meeting new fur babies!

Hi my name is Deb, and I am a receptionist at Liberty Veterinary Hospital. I was welcomed into the LVH Family in May 2015 after a career change. These are such wonderful people and wonderful clients; what more could a person ask for?! In my spare time, I hang with my 2 draft horses, 6 alpacas, 1 miniature donkey, and a dog and a cat.

My first jobs were working with Standardbred horses on a breeding farm, and on race tracks from Ohio to California. Then I was a Medical Laboratory Technician in the US Army. After discharge, I through-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1980. I have been involved “in dogs,” and specifically with standard longhaired dachshunds, most of my life, in various venues of tracking, field trials, conformation shows, obedience trials, agility, earthdog tests, and more. I have been a licensed judge of dachshund field trials since 1985. In 2017, I retired after 27 years as an RN. I began working as a receptionist at Liberty Vet Hospital in July 2019, and love the people here, our clients, their pets, and my job! Pictured with me are my two dogs 15 year old Owl and 4 year old Shaki.

Hello, My name is Rachel Dickinson, and I am a receptionist at Liberty Vet. I have been working at Liberty Vet since June, 2012, and have enjoyed every minute of it! When I first moved into the area I thought it was going to be very hard to find a good and knowledgeable vet for my dog Cowboy. I was wrong! Ever since I walked in the door with my first dog all of the staff has been very helpful and trusting. Now that I have three dogs Cowboy four year old beagle, Whiskey two year old beagle, and our failed foster dog Duke 10 year old boxer mix, I always feel at home when I bring any of my dogs here. I love animals, and am blessed to be working in a great environment.

Hi I’m Kara. I just started working at Liberty Vet in September. I have two fur babies of my own, a bunny and dog. Something you may not know about me is I helped train a service dog in training for 4 Paws for Ability.
Someday I hope to work at an animal sanctuary.

Hello, my name is Jane and I am the professional groomer here at Liberty Veterinary Hospital. I started here in August 2006 and over the years have enjoyed myself very much working with all my doggie friends (and their owners). I have been grooming for 40+ years and work hard to do the best job I can for each dog, while educating their owners on proper maintenance for use at home between visits. A well groomed dog is a happy dog, and I try to send every dog home feeling and smelling better than when they arrived.I currently share my home with Kaiya, my Australian Shepherd, and 2 kitties, Traci and Lucy. I also have 4 beautiful grandchildren that I enjoy spoiling. Reading, gardening and crocheting are some other hobbies I enjoy.Liberty Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful place to work because everyone there is like family. Tyler Ficorilli

I’m Tyler. I started working in the kennel here at Liberty Veterinary Hospital on July 15, 2016. I love working here because I want to be a veterinarian later in life, and I get to be around animals all the time, even if I’m doing the dirty jobs. But to me, that doesn’t matter, because I get to do something that I enjoy, rather than working a job I am not interested in. Probably my favorite part of working here is taking care of all the animals and getting to interact with them.

Hi my name is Joey, I have been working at Liberty Vet since 2019. I really enjoy getting to spend my time taking care of animals. I love working with dogs and cats but also enjoy the more exotic animals like bearded dragons. in my free time i like to be an active member in ffa and play with my dogs.

Some people talk to animals. Not many listen though. That’s the problem.

I have known since I was 7 years old that I wanted to spend my life working with animals. There is nothing more rewarding to me than knowing I have had a hand in helping an animal in need.Liberty is a wonderful hospital. The doctor’s are very intelligent and keep up with all of the new and innovative medical technology there is today. I feel honored to work with such a talented and caring staff. Hey there friends! My name is Nick and I have been a proud member of the LVH family since 2002. I have been working with animals since 1998 and have always been surrounded by pets in my personal life. Over the years I have filled a variety of roles here at my second home, but nothing makes me happier than spending time with my furry friends (your furry family members). I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. I share my home with three amazing (yet devious) feline friends and my phenomenal girlfriend. I owe so much to the wonderful animals that have impacted my life, and I am grateful that LVH has given me the opportunity to give back to the fur people community.

Hi, I’m Rita and I’ve been with Liberty Vet since October 2000. I came here looking for a part time job and the opportunity to interact with a variety of pets I may not have been able to otherwise. I found instead a full time home away from home.

My current position often keeps me away from the front desk and more behind the scenes. I love the creative opportunity to do our social media, information boards, monthly newsletters and keep our webpage updated. It is a position that I could not have dreamed up, but one that I am so grateful to have. Away from Liberty you will find me enjoying creative activities such as crafting (love vintage!), gourmet cooking and baking. At this time of my life, I am without a pet, but fortunately not lacking from the affection of a pet. Working here has many benefits! Our multiple house cats keep me company, entertain me and inspire me every day.
