new optionHello all. I am Clifford the cat, no relation to Clifford the big, obnoxious, red dog. My house mates Wrangler and Rupert have been raising anxiety levels about bad teeth. Let me, the calm, cool cat settle your nerves. Get ready to purr. There is a way to have healthy teeth and gums. There are four steps.

STEP 1: Visit your vet. The doctors will do a complete dental exam. If all is good, proceed to step 3.     If, unfortunately, your teeth need help, move to step 2.

STEP 2: If your teeth need treatment, it may be just a cleaning and polish. Sometimes a tooth may need to be pulled. No worries. Cats and dogs can eat with fewer teeth than humans. Our vets may prescribe medicines like pain pills or antibiotics for a time. Continue to step 3.

STEP 3: If your teeth and gums are healthy, continue to brush your teeth. Your owner won’t do it? Encourage them to buy you dental chews or food/water additives. Proceed to step 4.

STEP 4: Nap, run, play eat and enjoy life with a beautiful smile! Be confident that your breath smells just fine and normal.

So did I calm your nerves? Feel like stretching in the sunlight. The dog of the house, Wrangler will visit the blog again next week.   Remember, February is dental month at Liberty Vet.
