Amy Johnstone

Hello, I’m Dr. Amy Johnstone. I was born and raised in the Cincinnati area & received my BS in Biology in town at Xavier University. I then received my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the Ohio State University in 1991. Becoming a veterinarian was a childhood dream of mine come true. We share our house with Dunkel, a black lab and 2 kitties, Willie and Waylon.

Veterinary Technicians

Amanda

Hey everyone! My name is Amanda, and I work as an RVT here at Liberty. Born and raised in small town Northwest Ohio, I made my way down to the ‘Nati on a track scholarship to UC where I earned my degree in Biology in 2016. After taking several classes at the Cincinnati Zoo, I knew I wanted my passion for animals to turn into a career. I graduated from UCBA with a degree in Veterinary Technology in the spring of 2018 and was happily hired here at Liberty after graduation. Advocating for our furry friends and giving them the best medical care makes each day unique and rewarding. I married my high school sweetheart in 2017, and we have 3 crazy fur babies at home. Chance is a deaf husky mix who loves pestering our two opinionated cats, Cricket and Charlotte. I look forward to working with you and caring for your pets!

Katie

Kathy

Hi. My name is Kathy. I have been working as a RVT for over 20 years. It is hard to believe it has been that long. I tried the human side of medicine for about a year and realized that animals are my passion. I never had a pet as a child. But as soon as I was on my own, that all changed. I have had cats and dogs. Currently, I have Dixie, a mixed breed. Dixie actually belongs to my daughter who is away at college. Of all the dogs I have owned, Dixie is the best behaved. I really didn’t have to teach her, she is just a good dog!!

I have been married for 28 years and have three wonderful kids. (young adults). All three will be graduating from college in May. I am happy to say that my love of animals has been passed to all of them! I hope to have many grand-pets!

I love all animals. I am the weird person who doesn’t kill spiders, stinkbugs etc. Instead, I escort them outside. Being a Veterinary Technician is the career that was meant for me. I will treat your pets as if they were my own!

Holly

My name is Holly. I have been in the Veterinary field for 19 years and have been registered through the states of Ohio and Kentucky for 11 years now. After a long time as a surgical technician, and some time in rescue medicine and at the SPCA. I am super happy to return to general practice with Dr. Amy and the rest of the Liberty Veterinary Hospital staff. I have 2 dogs (Doberman Pincher, and Boxer) 2 cats, and a ball python. I look forward to building lasting relationships with my patients and their owners.

When I look into the eyes of an animal, I do not see an animal. I see a living being. I see a friend. I feel a soul.

Animal Care Assistants

Avery

Hello! My name is Avery. I am an animal care assistant here at LVH. I am currently attending UC to become an RVT. I have worked at LVH for only 6 months, I have been trained in the lab, kennel and reception. You may see me in any one of these departments. I have two of my own furry friends at home. You can see them in the picture, Layla is on the left and Luna is on the right!

Erica

Hey there, my name is Erica. I started working at LVH in July of 2016. Ever since I was young I had always wanted to work with animals. Now I work as a lab assistant, alongside techs and doctors to help patients feel better.

I have one dog of my own, a small Pekinese mix named Balto, who is a bundle of personality. In my free time when I’m outside I enjoy hiking, swimming and recently I’m getting back into golfing. On the other hand I don’t mind hanging out inside playing video games, and sitting down to watch movies.

Savannah

Hi my name is Savannah and I have been a kennel assistant here at Liberty Veterinary Hospital since April 2017. I have always known that I wanted to become a veterinarian. Here at LVH, I really enjoy getting to work with and take care of our boarders and the experience that it will give me. In my free time I enjoy volunteering at a local no kill shelter. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, and spending time with friends and family. I currently share my house with one dog and two cats: a loving lab mix named Casey, a tortoiseshell named Chloe, and an orange tabby named Thomas.

In our free time, we love cooking together, playing video games, going on dates, hanging out with family and friends, & mostly spending our money on our fur babies.

Rachel

Hello, my name is Rachel, and I am a part-time receptionist at Liberty Vet. I have been working at Liberty Vet since June 2012 and have enjoyed every minute of it! When I first moved into the area, I thought it was going to be very hard to find a good and knowledgeable vet for my dog Cowboy. I was wrong! Ever since I walked in the door with Cowboy all the staff has been very helpful and trusting. I now have rescue dog Bruce, and cat Rose Bianca. In my spare time I enjoy teaching yoga, helping others, and hanging out with my husband, and three children. I am blessed to be working in a great environment.

Grooming

Jane

Hello, my name is Jane and I am the professional groomer here at Liberty Veterinary Hospital. I started here in August 2006 and over the years have enjoyed myself very much working with all my doggie friends (and their owners). I have been grooming for 40+ years and work hard to do the best job I can for each dog, while educating their owners on proper maintenance for use at home between visits. I also have 4 beautiful grandchildren that I enjoy spoiling. Reading, gardening and crocheting are some other hobbies I enjoy.Liberty Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful place to work because everyone there is like family. I look forward to each day I am at work.
